I became particularly interested in upholstery because it is a combination of art and craftsmanship, where I can use my creativity to bring new life to a piece of furniture and also teach others to do the same.

I have experience with a wide variety of upholstery techniques and materials, including traditional hand-tied coil spring, webbing, and padding techniques, as well as more contemporary methods such as foam cushioning and synthetic materials. I am familiar with different fabrics and leathers, their properties, and how to work with them.

I approach teaching and instructing students in upholstery by first assessing their skill level and then tailoring the lessons to meet their individual needs. I believe in a hands-on approach to learning, where students can learn by doing and receive guidance and feedback as they work. I also encourage creativity and experimentation, while ensuring that students understand the fundamentals of the craft.

I have experience with furniture restoration and repair, including techniques for repairing frames, springs, webbing, and padding. I have also worked on restoring and preserving antique and vintage pieces, and am familiar with the proper methods and materials to use in these situations.

I stay current on the latest trends and techniques in upholstery by regularly reading industry publications, attending conferences and workshops, and consulting with other upholstery professionals. I also stay informed about the latest materials and technology and how they can be used in upholstery.

I believe the most important quality for an upholstery instructor is a deep understanding of the craft and the ability to communicate and demonstrate it effectively. Additionally, being patient, dedicated, and passionate about teaching is crucial to success in this field.
