I have always had a passion for literature and a love for teaching. I believe that language arts is a crucial foundation for all students and I wanted to be a part of helping students discover and develop their own love for the written word.

I believe that grammar and mechanics should be taught in a way that is both engaging and interactive for students. I like to incorporate a variety of activities such as sentence-level editing exercises, peer review, and writing workshops to help students understand and apply grammar and mechanics concepts.

I differentiate instruction by providing multiple means of representation and multiple means of engagement in my lessons. This can include using visual aids, graphic organizers, and hands-on activities for students who may struggle with language arts. I also provide opportunities for small group and individualized instruction to support students who need additional support or challenge.

I assess student learning through a variety of methods including formal assessments such as quizzes and tests, as well as informal assessments such as class discussions, homework assignments, and observation of student engagement and participation. I also use formative assessments such as exit tickets and progress monitoring to inform my instruction and check for understanding.

I incorporate technology into my instruction by using digital tools such as word processing programs, interactive whiteboards, and educational apps. I also use technology to provide students with access to a wide range of texts and resources. I also use technology to support collaborative learning and communication between students, such as using class blogs or discussion boards.

I encourage a love of reading by providing students with a wide range of texts that are engaging and relevant to their interests. I also model my own love of reading by sharing my own reading experiences with my students. I also incorporate reading strategies such as close reading and text-dependent questions to help students engage with texts on a deeper level.
