SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

ASSIGNMENT: Courses could include manufacturing, fabrication, construction technology, welding, Computer Aided Design, Introduction to Engineering and Robotics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Washington State Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate in Technology Education with any of the following vocational codes:

V143501 Engineering

V150100 Manufacturing Technology

V460200 Construction Trades

V480500 Precision Metal Worker

Associated Worksite Learning Coordinator

Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.

Demonstrated ability to establish laboratory experiences and safety protocols for students and implement such experiences in the course instruction.

Recent successful experience working with educators in demonstrating and modeling effective instructional strategies and assessment practices.

Demonstrated knowledge of needs of diverse learners and strategies for addressing these needs, including training in teaching literacy across the content area.

Understanding of appropriate local and state standards.

Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff and district patrons.

Evidence/demonstration of use of technology to enhance student learning or willingness to learn.

Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with students, teachers, school administrators, support personnel, and community members.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment: Typically conducted in woodshops, metal shops, or auto labs. The environment is active, often noisy, and requires strict adherence to safety protocols (e.g., OSHA, school safety plans).

Safety Hazards: Exposure to noise, flying debris, dust, fumes, and machinery with moving parts. Teachers must enforce the use of PPE (personal protective equipment) like safety glasses, respirators, and proper footwear.

Tasks: Daily instruction involves teaching, demonstrating tool usage, maintaining, organizing, and repairing equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to travel between buildings and occasionally attend workshops and conferences with the region or state.

Required to work flexible hours and schedule which may include some evenings. Expected to prepare classroom for the start of school and prepare workspace or room for summer cleaning after the last day of school.

Classroom/office environment which includes frequently walking, occasional lifting, and bending, stooping, kneeling and keyboarding.

Standing/Walking: Continuous standing and walking are standard, with teachers on their feet for most of the day walking between workstations to supervise students.

Lifting: The ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull items, often up to 25 pounds, is required, with occasional needs to lift heavier materials or machinery components.

Manual Agility: Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead to assist students, access equipment, and organize materials.

Vision/Hearing: Good vision and hearing are crucial for monitoring equipment safety and hearing auditory warnings in a high-noise environment

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Contract Term: 180 days; 3 professional development; 19 mandatory hours

Salary: Salary: Based on the 2026-27 Longview Education Association compensation schedule. Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and other board approved benefits.
