ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Attend UB or UBMS classes
2. Supervise students in classrooms, labs and during class breaks
3. Serve as a role model for high school participants in the college classroom and lab
4. Participate in class field trips
5. Consult/coordinate with instructors to assist participants as needed, especially in group research projects and academic tutoring
6. Monitor student progress, attendance, and behavior and enforce program rules
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or significant progress (60+ credit hours by June 1, 2026) toward completion of a bachelor’s degree.
Experience: Classroom or related experiences and the ability to provide engaging instruction. Personal experience in overcoming academic and economic obstacles to success.
Skills: Possess leadership potential; good decision making skills; initiative and strong interpersonal skills; team-oriented; energetic; responsible; creative; knowledge of effective teaching/learning process; ability to work with high school students; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in print; maintain confidentiality; possess problem-solving skills; be open to a variety of student backgrounds; have the ability to walk long distances; participate in outdoor activities; work extended hours with a positive attitude; basic Microsoft Office and Internet skills; have the ability to utilize voice calls and text messaging on personal phone during work hours
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor classroom or outdoor learning environment as appropriate
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Appropriate classroom technology as necessary
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to complete essential classroom functions
SALARY: $15 per hour
