Anatomy & Physiology Teaching Assistant (KCC STUDENTS ONLY)

JOB SUMMARY

This Student Worker Teaching Assistant will assist Anatomy and Physiology faculty by preparing classroom materials, facilitating discussions, and answering student questions on course concepts. Responsibilities include helping students in the classroom, organizing instructional materials, and contributing to a productive learning environment.

This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week and a federal work study position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help students understand core concepts covered in class and explain assignment instructions.
• Support faculty by preparing, organizing, and setting up course materials, supplies, and equipment for face-to-face and distance education classes.
• Attend instructor’s face-to-face classes to assist with logistics and participate in classroom activities.
• Assist instructors with grading assignments and entering grades into Canvas.
• Identify and record common problem areas for the purpose of developing support services and reference materials.
• Meet regularly with supervisor and subject area faculty.
• Adhere to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Regulations.
• Follow and enforce all KCC policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must be a current student at Klamath Community College.
• Must have completed the Anatomy and Physiology series with a grade B or higher (BIO 231, BIO 232, BIO 233)
• Overall GPA of at least 3.00 required
• Bilingual preferred
• Tutoring/Instructional experience preferred
• Must qualify for federal work study

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Preferably available on Tuesdays and Fridays (subject to change).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• The work environment is indoors
• This position requires sitting at a desk or table, standing at a board or table, or a combination of both
• Frequently moving from stationary sitting positions to standing and walking
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
