About the Role:

Located in Elkhart, Indiana, the Senior Vice President, RVTI serves as the chief executive responsible for leading the RV Technical Institute, a 501(c)(3) foundation established by RVIA to address the industry’s critical shortage of trained and certified RV technicians. Reporting directly to the President & CEO of RVIA, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of RVTI, ensuring alignment with both the RVIA and RVTI Boards of Directors. In addition to guiding the Institute’s strategic direction, the SVP will serve as its spokesperson, representing RVTI at industry and community events to strengthen its visibility and impact.

This is a fully on-site position based in Elkhart, ideal for a leader who values collaboration, hands-on engagement, and a dynamic, team-oriented workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Operations

• As a true business partner to the president, RVIA and RVTI Boards, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and RVIA and RVTI’s long-term strategies.

• Execute on the RVTI vision and maintain rolling strategic plans to guide the Institute.

• Partner with RV dealers, RVTI’s primary customers and employers of RV service technicians by supporting their technician training needs and maintaining accurate dealer and technician records. Collaborate with dealers as authorized learning partners to ensure effective service delivery and workforce development.

• Develop a communications plan for RVTI to include all stakeholders.

• Serve as advisor to the RVIA and RVTI Boards on all educational matters.

• Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the institute’s programs, services and special projects.

• Determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery and work with the RVTI Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization.

• Present draft policies for the approval of the RVTI Board and implement the organizational policies with staff. Review existing policies with staff on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate.

• Oversee and approve the preparation of the RVTI Board meeting agendas and supporting materials.

• Ensure that the operation of the Institute meets the expectations of its Board, industry stakeholders and students.

• Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization.

Financial & Organizational Management

Work with staff and the RVTI Board to prepare a comprehensive budget.

• Research funding sources to increase the revenue stream of the organization.

• Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board.

• Provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditures of the organization.

Team Leadership

• Recruit, interview and select staff members who have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization's mission.

• Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the RVTI team.

• Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.

• Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.

• Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience in education, workforce development, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Senior leadership experience in career and technical education, workforce development, or nonprofit management.

  • Demonstrated success leading organizational strategy, program development, and stakeholder partnerships.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, teams, and complex initiatives.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Additional Information:

This position requires extensive domestic travel to meet with RV dealerships, RVIA members, Authorized Learning Partners and state associations, participation in board meetings, attendance at industry conferences and conventions, and representation at other RVTI-related functions.
