Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated, organized, and mission-driven Educational Program Coordinator to lead and coordinate our educational initiatives inside the DuPage County Jail. This position serves as the central liaison between JUST and its program partners, overseeing daily operations, coordinating volunteers, and fostering community relationships. The Coordinator will also drive program growth, manage hands-on initiatives like hydroponics and Hope’s Garden, and assist with technology, curriculum, and program development in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and coordinate all educational and vocational programs within the jail.
• Serve as liaison to current partners and establish new partnerships to support program expansion.
• Coordinate volunteer instructors, maintain up-to-date class schedules within Educational Programs, and ensure curriculum quality.
• Coordinate special programming including indoor/outdoor hydroponics and Hope’s Garden.
• Utilize, support and implement technology needs such as Zoom, computers, and educational software.
• Ensure operational and administrative tasks are completed to maintain effective program delivery.
• Work closely with the Executive Director on project planning, community outreach, and reporting.
• Monitor program impact and continuously seek improvements and innovation in delivery.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Educational Public Administrative, Career Technical Education, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).
• Illinois Paraprofessional License, Professional Educator License (PEL), or equivalent certification a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in adult education, program management, or a related instructional setting. Experience in correctional, nonprofit, or faith-based environments a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing, and comfortable with digital education tools technology skills a plus.
• Strong leadership, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional, compassionate, and discreet approach to working within a correctional facility.
