KVCC is seeking an experienced Welding/EDMT (Engineering, Design and Manufacturing – machine tool, computer-aided design, material sciences, fluid power) instructor to fill a full-time, tenure-track position. Individuals should be familiar with a variety of instructional strategies, possess knowledge of different learning styles, and have an understanding of the community college philosophy.
Duties will include teaching day and evening courses, assisting in developing curriculum, and participating in departmental and college activities.
The position is slated to begin August 30, 2017 and is contingent upon final Board approval and funding.
An accredited bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, Vocational or Technical Education is required.
5 or more years of current welding experience in the field is required. Knowledge/experience in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, Oxy-Fuel Welding, Cutting and Brazing and the Thermal Cutting processes, along with the ability to read welding blueprints and welding symbols is required.
Individuals are required to become trained and teach cross functionally in EDMT courses e.g. CAD, material science, fluid power, machine tool, and design classes.
Prior secondary or post-secondary teaching experience desired, preferably at the community college level.
Journeyman card in Millwright, Sheet Metal, Ironworker, Plumber/Pipefitter, Machinist or Tool and Die, is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred.
Prior experience using CAD/CAM software is preferred.
CNC programming experience is preferred.
Experience as a machinist or machine tool operator is preferred.
