Assiniboine Community College (ACC) has been providing exceptional learning experiences for students across Manitoba and around the world for more than 50 years. For staff and students alike, ACC offers an unparalleled learning environment and responds well to the demands and requirements of the Manitoba labour market. Instructors follow a ‘learning by doing’ philosophy, combining theory with hands-on learning inside classrooms, labs, kitchens, shops, fields and the college’s sustainable greenhouse. ACC is an accredited college with the Government of Manitoba and offers over 40 unique diploma and certificate programs across a variety of disciplines including culinary arts and hospitality, business, agriculture and environment, health and human services and trades and technology. The college also delivers apprenticeship programming in a range of skilled trades disciplines.
The School of Trades and Technology offers 21 foundation and apprenticeship training programs and 9 programs in technology backed by the Department of Education and Training’s Advanced Learning Division. With approximately 1,100 students and over 60 faculty and staff, the School offers high quality career-oriented diplomas, advanced diplomas, certificates and advanced certificates as well as training upgrades through Continuing Studies programs.
As the School’s chief academic and operational leader, the Dean is responsible to the Vice-President Academic for providing dynamic and visionary leadership and all aspects of the delivery of high quality educational and training programs. The Dean is responsible for all aspect of the School’s operations including programming and budgeting, human resources, and the development of partnerships and training opportunities with key government, community and industry stakeholders. A member of the College’s senior leadership team, the Dean also shares responsibility for institutional academic and strategic planning as well as policy development.
The successful candidate for this key position will be an inspiring and effective leader with an exemplary background as a teacher and practitioner, significant post-secondary leadership and administrative experience as well as an understanding of the industry contexts of trades and technology. She/he must respect and thrive in a collegial culture, and work towards inclusivity, consultation and transparency. An advanced degree in a related discipline and a trades and/or technology certification are preferred while experience in and understanding of trades and technology are essential.
